Non-invasive ventilation (NIV)
Non-invasive ventilation is used more and more as an alternative to intubation and conventional ventilation.
Well known complications such as and not limited to trauma during intubation, infections and tracheal stenosis can be avoided. Furthermore, NIV means more comfort for the patient.
Nevertheless, use of NIV is not trivial and some precautions have to be taken.
The proper interface must be used and proper mask fit is critical, however this cannot always be done with perfection and leakages can arise.
Leakages are a major problem of non-invasive ventilation causing dissynchrony between the patient and the ventilator. To combat this issue the HAMILTON-C2 incorporates implemented the innovative IntelliTrig technology to compensate leakages and assure a perfect synchronization between the patient and the ventilator.
